Bosko’s Gallery and Picture Framing

Bosko’s Gallery and Picture Framing has been a fixture at 6038 College Avenue since 1945 when Peter Bosko took over the store. Peter was born in Roseville and came to Oakland in the late 1930s to study art at CCAC. Peter’s children, John and Lynn, have continued his legacy.

While several of Peter Bosko’s paintings still adorn the walls of the shop, the emphasis has changed to reflect John Bosko’s longtime interest in photography and photographic equipment. He has also unearthed and preserved many photographic collections including those of Eston Cheney documenting the history of the East Bay, images of the Golden Gate Bridge by Milton Taylor, and Seabiscuit photos. He has contributed photos to several books of East Bay history, and was a major contributor to the recent show in Hayward, “Golden Gate Bridge, Then and Now”. He continues to share his collection of vintage images from all over the world at https://www.flickr.com/people/97974762@N00/
